Le Rosey's Paul and Henri Carnal Hall-- an Iconic Center for Culture, Arts and Communication

Le Rosey, my alma mater, recently inaugurated the Paul and Henri Carnal Hall-

During my most recent visit, I was blown away with the Center. Bernard Tschumi Architects won the invited competiion to design a new center for the performing arts at Institut Le Rosey. Named after the school's founder Paul Carnal, this cultural center features 900-1000-seater hall designed for conferences, theatre, musicals, concerts and anything else which can nourish students’ cultural appetite.

Le Rosey is enormously proud to announce that that it will host some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras: in October 2014, the inaugural concert was provided by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Charles Dutoit. This will followed by five classical concerts including one with the St Petersburg Philharmonic as well as a recital by Hélène Grimaud and a number of other treats.

The Paul and Henri Carnal Hall is not just a building at the heart of Rosey but a campus within a campus; its spaces have been ingeniously designed to open the mind, to stimulate the imagination and to provide the keys to the universal language that allows us to better understand people and societies. Rosey exceptionalism is here aimed clearly at educational innovation.

A PERSONAL ANECDOTE:

Le Rosey--its international setting, its un-prejudiced environment and the multi-cultural platform molded my future. Sent there to learn languages, I graduated as a citizen of the world, The difference this experience made in my future resulted in sending my children to experience the same.

It's been 38 years since I graduated, 14 years since my daughter Alexis graduated with the title of 'Meilleure Roseene' and 8 years since my son 'Tino' attended... When we visit, we leave nostalgic, Whether its the same math teacher we happened to share, the chef in the kitchen, our beloved headmaster or simply the grounds we walk on, we take with us a bitter-sweetness and look forward to the next opportunity to meet with fellow Roseens. Truly a school for life, where age, religion and culture knows no boundaries as represented in the multiple yearly reunions across the globe!
