Havana Biennale for Copperbridge Foundation


Copperbridge Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with a mission to promote cultural and educational exchange through the medium of artistic expression. As part of fulfilling its mission, Copperbridge Foundation proudly presents... 6 exciting projects for the Havana Biennial!

INSOMNIA (Open House) - Artist Pablo Rosendo is living in a Vedado house while transforming it entirely into art. The constant progress of the artist is a documented intervention and will be shown as part of the installation for a month with open doors to the public during the 12th Havana Biennial.

Rosendo has assembled a team of Havana's most talented artists ranging from performance art to music to animation. We welcome you to be consumed by the artists' creation.

Copperbridge Foundation will be hosting the opening reception at the house: May 25, 2015 – 8:00PM - #367 e/ 23 y 25, Havana, Cuba.

Detrás del muro (Behind the Wall) is a large-scale collective art project spanning across the malecón (seawall). For the 12th Havana Biennial, in its second iteration, Detrás del muro will feature 50 of Cuba’s top artists!

Copperbridge Foundation will be hosting a private reception with artist Pablo Rosendo and his installation at Hotel Terral celebrating Detrás del muro. May 24, 2015 – 6:00PM – Avenida. Malecon Esquina A Lealtad. Havana, Cuba

In the absence of local favorite artist Noel Morera, and it the spirit of the Havana Biennial, the community has come together to curate what some consider the most authentic exhibit of the Biennial, Ausente al matutino (Absent at Roll Call). Noel Morera has selected some of his works to represent a “humble compendium of life in Cuba”. Copperbridge Foundation will be hosting the opening reception: May 26, 2015 – 6:00PM Malecón entre E y F edificio Giron, apto 7, bloque 2, 2do piso (túnel uno), La Habana, Cuba

Artist Daniela del Riego, a first-year student at Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) will be presenting Ombligo, a piece that analyzes Cuban social tradition through the arts and daily life. Copperbridge Foundation will be co-hosting the inauguration at ISA: May 21, 2015 – 6:30PM – Calle 120 #1110 e/ 9 y 13, Cubanacan, Playa, La Habana

Elvia Rosa Castro, art curator, art critic, and Detrás del muro collaborator, is releasing her first book, “Colores de ánimo,” with a collection of her essays and interviews with some of Cuba’s top visual artists.

Copperbridge Foundation will be co-hosting the reception to celebrate Castro’s book release: June 3, 2015 – 5:00PM – King Bar – Calle 23 No.667 (interior) e/ E y D Vedado, La Habana, Cuba

The Institute of Superior Arts (ISA) is considered to be the most prestigious arts school in all of Cuba as well as one of the most outstanding architectural achievements of the Cuban Revolution.

During the 12th Havana Biennial, ISA, Curator Juan Delgado, and Copperbridge Foundation will present the institute’s first ever catalog of all the artists at the school. Details TBA
